Tai Chi Foundations
In this class you will begin to learn the Tai Chi
form one movement at a time. You will build internal energy, develop flexibility, cultivate deep full breaths and loosen-up the
body for Tai Chi. Every one receives personal instruction, you can expect to take away a couple of new movements per class. Time permitting we examine the self-defense applications of Tai Chi. (Healing arts students can opt to work on their form)
Tai Chi Precisions
This is a detail oriented class. We work at perfecting your form movement by movement. Now that choreography is no longer an issue we concentrate on breathing, quality of movement and the Moving Meditation. It is here you begin the study of the Tai Chi Sword.
Kung Fu Stances & Conditioning
This class is divided into two 45 minute sections.The first section is a workout. You will be drilled in the fundamental stances of Kung Fu, we will help you lay a strong foundation by looking at alignment and slowing down the transitions. These classes have a stretching and strengthening component, as well as kicking and punching drills. In the second section, you get detailed instruction on traditional forms and self-defense applications; every student receives one on one instruction.
Kung Fu Stones and Punches
This incredible skill and strengthening class is done while holding on to stones. First you will build muscle and endurance then use this power in the art of striking. You will be put through punching drills done in the air and with targets.
Street Proofing
Become instinctual. The focus is on realistic self-defense applications suited for urban life.
Repeated practice will drill the skill into your muscle memory and increase your confidence.
Wu Xing Animals
This class will take you through movements taken from all the animal styles, set to music you will work on improving flexibility, stamina, and technique.
Snake & Crane
This class is open to students with a Yellow Sash and above. You will learn to turn your body into a whip or a chain. We examine the powerful styles of Wing Chung and Dopi Crane through drills and techniques involving strikes and locks.
Dragon & Tiger
Open to Orange Sash and above. You will begin studying weapons, starting with the Boken. This animal conditioning will make you stronger, faster as we examine the tiger and dragon styles through forms, drills and techniques.
Advanced Wu Xing
At Green Sash the Leopard is introduced. We begin to work on skipping and spinning kicks as well as drills and techniques that combine all the animals. With the introduction of sparring you will begin to move towards free style.
Silent Sitting Meditation
Set in a serene and quiet setting, you will sit with a still body using a deep breathing technique to calm and focus the mind. As the mind settles you will have more clarity.
